Now let me start off by clarifying — I don’t think college is for everyone. In fact, a lot of people probably shouldn’t be in college. YouTube/Google University can go a very long way. That is if you know what you’re looking for.

With that being said, I’ve found my time in college to be absolutely amazing with the amount of growth I’ve had as a person, and I wanted to highlight the biggest points.

Another disclaimer: I call my four-year undergraduate studies “college” throughout this article even though it’d technically be called “university.”

Education gained from classes

Now here’s the thing about learning in classes — generally speaking, most of the classes are out of date from the real world. Technologies used are out of date, textbooks are written years back, and unless you have a new professor that has the industry experience and leverages recent articles, most of the content you learn will just be theoretical and outdated. That being said though, there are some fundamentals you learn.

The biggest thing you learn in the classroom is how to think, articulate (written, spoken visual presentations), and approach problems.
